After eighty-four days without a fish in the bucket, the old fisherman Santiago is in a real bind. He leaves his young friend Manolin behind and sails his skiff far in the Gulf Stream. He has a fishing line, a rope and a harpoon, but most importantly, he has big faith that his luck will come back. As he hooks a giant marlin, his adventure far out in the Gulf Stream off the coast of Cuba uncovers the strength and patience in Santiago.
